The airline recently won the “Cargo Wings Award” as well as a special recognition for Outstanding Partnership at the Cargo Land Excellence Awards held in Liege.
In a statement shared on its social media platforms following the announcement, the airline said the awards reflect its unwavering operational reliability and its long-standing collaboration with the Cargo Land community at Liege Airpo
In addition, the airline secured three prestigious titles at the Pax Readership Awards 2026 held in Hamburg. The awards include “Best Food Service,” “Best Overall Passenger Experience” in Africa, and “Best Childcare Facilities.”

Addis Ababa, April 23, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s $12.5 billion airport project near Bishoftu is drawing renewed international attention for its scale and potential impact on continental aviation capacity, as construction on the facility continues.

Addis Ababa, April 13, 2026 (FMC) — The Ethiopian Heritage Authority (EHA) has announced the discovery of ancient Homo sapiens fossils dating back approximately 100,000 years in the Middle Awash area of Ethiopia’s Afar Region.
The Authority said the findings, made through extensive archaeological research, provide important new insights into human evolution and early human lifestyles.
The study, led by Yonas Beyene (PhD), brought together scientists from 24 countries and was conducted over several years.
According to the research data, the discoveries offer significant evidence reinforcing Ethiopia’s central role in the origins of humanity. The findings also help fill a long-standing gap in the understanding of human evolution in Africa, particularly covering the period between 900,000 and 200,000 years ago.

Addis Ababa, April 8, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Airlines Group has reaffirmed its ambition to rank among the world’s most competitive carriers as it marks its 80th anniversary, aligning its long-term expansion with its Vision 2040 strategy.
Group CEO Mesfin Tassew made the remarks as the airline launched a series of commemorative events, reflecting on eight decades of operational excellence, resilience, and sustained growth.
Under Vision 2040, the airline plans to expand its destinations from 145 to 243, increase its fleet from more than 150 aircraft to 350, and grow annual passenger traffic from 20 million to 60 million.
Mesfin disclosed that the airline has already placed orders for 117 aircraft, scheduled for delivery over the next seven years, underscoring its commitment to fleet modernization and network expansion.
